Determining where we are going by evaluating where we have been…

Sarah Bashing day at Huff Po

Let’s start with Geoffrey Dunn’s article, now Dunn according to Huffington Post  is an award-winning journalist, filmmaker and historian.  Apparently several of his movies have qualified for Academy Awards, which is quite surprising as I am pretty sure that you have never heard of them (me either).  Now I will admit that I am a blogger, that’s not a bad thing to be, unless I started off as an award-winning journalist, filmmaker and historian and was now reduced to writing bad things about Sarah Palin for money.

Just to give you a taste of what a award-winning journalist Dunn is, here is an excerpt from his article

There’s little mention of Palin’s role as a council member and mayor of Wasilla, her brutal firing of Police Chief Irl Stambaugh and her betrayal of political allies from the early days of her career. I also would have liked to have seen some excerpts from the Branchflower Report included in the collection along with a run-down of the nearly 20 ethics complaints that are tidily posted on the pages of the Anchorage Daily News. While Palin is now an American icon, she is also very much a product of longstanding Alaskan political traditions of isolation and corruption, and her current political traction remains linked to the interplay between those forces.

This is far from Dunn’s first attack on Palin, nor will it unfortunately be his last as he is apparently in the process of writing a book about her.  It is rather sad when you stop and realize that this represents what the man’s career has come to, waxing elequent about a book that is little more than a collection of articles that have been previously published.  But Dunn does not stop there, he continues his attack saying:

One thing is certain: You will read far more about the real Sarah Palin in Going Rouge than you ever will in her own memoirs, being published by (who else?) Rupert Murdoch. If there is a single consistency in the Palin canon it is that she is an inveterate liar and motivated by a reckless ambition that has left a trail of collateral damage from Wasilla to Washington, D.C. Going Rouge is full of golden nuggets about Sarah Palin. Judging from her past performances, her own book will most certainly be riddled with deceit.

Gee I wonder if after all that overly dramatic crap that Dunn plans to show us that Palin is 1/2 as big a liar as our current President, you know the guy who can’t even honestly state where he met his wife because that betrays his other lies about knowing the terrorist Robert Ayers?  Is it possible that Sarah Palin has defeated her political opponents by having their divorce records unsealed and made public?   Collateral damange Geoffry?  You mean like the Obama’s left behind in Chicago?   Please as if your articles don’t represent the absolute worst in yellow journalism.

Next up is the article that Huffington Post has in it’s style section “Sarah Palin’s Post Defeat Duds: One Year, Many outfits later” of course this is the same style section that contains the story “Obama’s PDA: One year as A cute First Couple” and no, I’m not making it up.  What is remarkable about the Sarah Palin Poll is that the pictures represent the worst possible pictures that could be found of Sarah Palin, you would have to make a concerted effort to find pictures this bad.  And can someone please explain to me how on earth this is relevant to anything?  Sarah Palin’s wardrobe should really not be that big an issue unless it is keeping the unemployment numbers RIDICULOUSLY HIGH.  It wasn’t an issue then, it isn’t an issue now.  It is just the only tool the left has, throw crap at the wall and hope somebody is stupid enough to believe some of it.   Levi Johnson has a pistachio commercial for God’s sake, why not drag Mr. Obama’s brother back from Kenya and let him make a commerical for ANY kind of food.  I am sure he would be glad to.

How did Sarah Palin get to be the villian here?  Did people finally catch on to the current White House blaming George Bush and Fox News for everything?  What does Sarah Palin have to do with the Health Care fiasco?  Are those Blue Dog Demoncrats following her lead?  What does she have to do with the Unemployment numbers?  How about the war in Afganistan?  Did she tell everyone to turn their ’suspicious’ neighbors in to the White House?

Truly all Sarah Palin did was disagree with the White House and the people in it, which is enough these days, just ask Fox News, Edmonds.com or the AP.

The Republican Civil War!!!

By Patrick Michael

Tomorrows off year elections have been described by the left in every possible way,  from Robert Gibbs and his “I don’t think they portend a lot” to Andrew Sullivan’s tirade  in the Atlantic “… a Hoffman victory will embolden the grassroots political insurgency.  From the mindset of an ideologically purist base – where a moderate Republican in New York state is a ‘radical leftist‘ – this makes sense. But for all those outside the 20 percent self-identified Republican base, it looks like a mix of a purge and a clusterfuck. If Hoffman wins, and is then embraced by the GOP establishment, you have a recipe for a real nutroots take-over. This blood in the water will bring on more and more and deadlier and deadlier sharks.”

Whereas most people reading this probably know who Robert Gibbs is, they are most likely not that familiar with Andrew Sullivan.  Writing an article called the Daily Dish, Sullivan remains one of Barrack Obama’s biggest fans and consistently lashes out at everything and anyone on the right (such as his recent attacks on Sarah Palin).    His daily article appears in the Atlantic and is consistently carried by The Huffington Post – which should tell you all that you need to know.

Let’s look a little bit at his argument here, first of all is he trying to describe Dede Scozzafava as a “moderate republican”??  I’m not sure that only the “ideologically purist base” finds that statement laughable.  I mean the women was more liberal than the liberal democrat candidate.  Or as was said today on Fox News, “she makes Senator Snowe look like Rush Limbaugh”   And isn’t it funny how Andrew leaves all the back door wheeling and dealing that his favorite white house has been engaging in with Scozzafava out of the article?  And look at the groups that were contributing to her campaign (From Michelle Malkin’s website)   “This week, Scozzafava received $1,000 from the Planned Parenthood PAC and $2,500 from the New York Choice PAC. The International Longshoreman’s Association and the United Transportation Union PAC each chipped in $2,500, while the local International Brotherhood of Electric Workers gave her $1,000. The National Education Association’s political action committee spent $5,000 for her campaign, while a renewable energy association donated $2,000.”  Yes sir, that reads like a who’s who of Republican doners list doesn’t it?

In so far as Sullivan’s base numbers are concerned the ‘20%’ number that he so casually throws out, the same poll (http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/shrinkinggop.jpg) shows those who identify themselves as Strong Democrats at 21% big whoop!!

Purge?  If by purge he means getting rid of what are commonly referred to as “RINOS”, well let’s hope so.  It would be awful nice to have a representative whose vote on any given subject was not both a huge surprise and a huge disappointment.

In so far as the ‘nutroots’ take over is concerned, who could he possibly have in mind?  It seems to me that the nutroots have taken over already, and setup shop in the White House.

Obama the most cerebral president ever!!

By:  Patrick Michael

Kenneth T. Walsh, writing in the US News & World Report remarked that I have interviewed each of the past five presidents— Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and now Obama—and Obama seems the most cerebral

That’s pretty amazing considering the fact that Most President’s when pressed seem aware of the fact that there are only 50 states.  Remember the grief that George Bush received from the media because he could not identify the president of Chechnya?  Yet Obama largely received a pass from the Main Stream Media for his ‘57′ states comment.  Sure makes a difference what side of the fence (left or right) you make a fool of yourself from doesn’t it?

Still, the Main Stream Media is determined to convince us that when it comes to brains, nobody beats Obama.  This is nothing new, the left has been trying to sell this idea for well over a year now, with little if anything to support their theory.  Take the following interview from the Don Imus show (not that I am a Don Imus fan) as an example:

Historian Michael Beschloss: Yeah. Even aside from the fact of electing the first African American President and whatever one’s partisan views this is a guy whose IQ is off the charts — I mean you cannot say that he is anything but a very serious and capable leader and — you know — You and I have talked about this for years …

Imus: Well. What is his IQ?

Historian Michael Beschloss: … our system doesn’t allow those people to become President, those people meaning people THAT smart and THAT capable

Imus: What is his IQ?

Historian Michael Beschloss: Pardon?

Imus: What is his IQ?

Historian Michael Beschloss: Uh. I would say it’s probably – he’s probably the smartest guy ever to become President.

Wow!!  Well Michael sure backed up that claim didn’t he?

One has to wonder, why the push to prove the President’s brilliance?  If you want something a little more recent, look at this article by Karen Von Hahn of the Globe & Mail writing on Obama’s nomination:
“Okay, okay, the sky is falling. But to all those Chicken Littles afraid to celebrate Barack Obama’s arrival in the White House, convinced that he has inherited way too many problems to be able to make a difference, may I suggest he already has. And not just because he was able to convince Americans that they have moved beyond race. Thanks to him and his brave band of arugula-eating, Harvard-educated policy wonks, stupidity is no longer in fashion. So much so that smart is the new fabulous.

Stupidity is no longer in fashion???

Could it be that the left wing media by minimizing Obama’s mistakes and maximizing his perceived brain power is covering the President with a shell to purport the myth that his vast intelligence is beyond the comprehension of us mere mortals (you know, the one’s who make stupidity fashionable?), and therefore our questioning his actions, or statements is somewhat akin to questioning God?  One almost expects Obama to ask a Fox News correspondant (in the event he could ever lower himself enought to actually do such a thing) “Where were you when I created the heaven’s and the earth?”  Scary thought isn’t it?
